Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon says his son, Omri, played an essential role in communication with Palestinian Authority President Yasser Arafat and that the security situation deteriorated after Omri stopped his activities as an informal liaison. Sharon’s statement came in an affidavit submitted to Israel’s High Court of Justice in response to petitions filed by the Movement for Quality Government and opposition leader Yossi Sarid against using a non-elected person for affairs of state.
