Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu pledged he would stay in power despite Foreign Minister David Levy’s resignation, which leaves the government with a one-vote majority in the Knesset. Levy, citing a lack of spending on social services in the proposed 1998 budget, said he was “fed up” with the government. Netanyahu said he hoped Levy would reverse his decision, which has 48 hours to take effect.
