Israeli security officials are accusing Syrian President Bashar Assad of having a lack of understanding of Hezbollah that could lead to further conflict and instability. They say Assad’s praise of Hezbollah shortly after it abducted three Israeli soldiers in a disputed area along the border with Lebanon has been taken by the Shi’ite group as a green light to continue hostile activities against Israel.
