Israeli soldiers killed an armed Palestinian during an operation in the Gaza Strip. The army said the operation was an effort to halt a recent barrage of mortar attacks from the area onto the nearby Jewish settlement bloc of Gush Katif. The Palestinian killed during the operation was identified as Mohammed Al-Majdali, a 22-year-old resident of the Khan Yunis refugee camp.
