The deal under discussion would involve the release of hundreds of Palestinian, Libyan, Syrian and Jordanian prisoners — including Hezbollah leader Sheik Abdul Karim Obeid and Shi’ite activist Mustafa Dirani — in exchange for the release from Lebanon of kidnapped Israeli businessman Elhanan Tannenbaum and the remains of three abducted Israeli soldiers.
