A warning of a possible invasion of locusts from the Arabian Peninsula was issued here today by the Ministry of Agriculture. The Ministry announcement said that swarms of the insect, massed on the peninsula, could be brought to Israel by any east wind.
Air reconnaissance units have been organized to detect the locusts’ approach while planes and helicopters are being readied for spraying operations.
