Israel’s defense minister assured Condoleezza Rice that Israel would not interfere in Palestinian elections. Shaul Mofaz met the U.S. secretary of state Wednesday ahead of her visit next week to the region. Israeli leaders earlier had said they would not “facilitate” the elections if Hamas or other terrorist groups take part.
