Israel’s development areas have been hard hit by unemployment. Figures released Monday by the Manpower Planning division of the Ministry of Labor and Welfare reported 6,500 people in those sensitive areas are out of work. They comprise 26 percent of the total number of jobless in the country. Three towns seriously affected by the lack of jobs are Bet Shean, Sderot and Yeruham.
