Speaking before the congregation of the Park Avenue Synagogue on Friday evening, Rabbi Louis I. Newman of Temple Rodeph Sholom declared that “the power of religious revelation has not abated in Jewish life and the traditions of Israel continue to bring both new seers and sages.
“It is a mistake to imagine that Jewry is preoccupied only with the battle against anti – Semitism,” Rabbi Newman continued, adding that “the defense of Jewry against the ravages of Hitlerism is per se a defense of these values which Western civilization has come to hold dear.”
