Israel’s Minister-designate to Washington Leaves for U.S.

Yaacov Herzog, Israel’s Minister-designate at the Israel Embassy in Washington, left here this morning to take up his new post. An attorney, biblical scholar and author of a commentary on the Mishnah, Mr. Herzog headed the Foreign Ministry’s Division of United Nations Affairs until recently.

Last night President Ben Zvi gave a farewell dinner for Mr. Herzog. Monday evening. Chief Rabbi Isaac Herzog, his father, tendered a reception for the diplomat which was attended by members of the Cabinet, deputies in parliament, diplomats and leading personalities in many walks of Israeli life.
