Israel’s Supreme Court on Thursday acquitted a former aide to the late Yitzhak Rabin. Shimon Sheves, who served as director general of the Prime Minister’s Office under Rabin, was convicted in 2001 of using his position to try to help four businessmen and friends secure an arms deal with a foreign country. The court said Thursday that Sheves acted in conflict of interest and should have faced disciplinary measures, but that criminal proceedings were unjustified.
