Commissioner of Public Health Nicola Perroti today announced that a grant of 800,000 lires (nominally $2,300) had been made available for work among displaced Jews in Italy.

A cable signed jointly by Chief Rabbi David Prato and Rafael Cantoni, president of the Union of Jewish Communities, has been sent to Secretary of State Marshall, declaring that although the UNSCOP majority recommendations “mutilates the area of Palestine granted the Jews under the Balfour Declaration,” it represents the beginning of an attempt to meet Jewish needs.
