The Udine chapter of the National Association of Italian Partisans protested strongly today to the Italian Attorney General against the revival of a fascist organization in Italy.

The revived group is the “Voluntary Militia for National Security” which had been active during the Mussolini regime. The partisans group asserted that the reconstitution violated the Italian constitutional ban on the reorganization of fascist groups.

Police were investigating today the appearance last night of anti-Semitic slogans smeared on the walls of buildings in Merano, a German-speaking town in northern Italy near the Austrian Border. Local authorities have ordered the removal of the slogans.
