The local Friends of the Hebrew University announced today a gift of $500,000 by J.M. Sudarsky of Bakersfield, Calif, toward a goal of $7,000,000 sought for the construction of a Life Science Compound at the University.
Mr. Sudarsky, a chemical engineer and industrialist and a member of the University board, presented his gift at a meeting at the home of Louis N. Boyar, western region chairman of the American Friends of the university. Mr. Sudarsky made his gift in memory of his father. It will provide for a Selig Sudarsky Institute of Biochemical Sciences Building, one of the six to make up the projected complex.
The donor will be honored at a dinner of the local chapter November 7. Other board members to be honored on that occasion include Dr. Joseph Kaplan, professor of physics at UCLA, Oscar S. Pattiz, and Ted Channock who recently endowed a wing at the Hadassah-Hebrew University Hospital.
