The Cabinet today approved the arrangement giving the Jewish National Fund sole authority over afforestation work in Israel. The Cabinet’s action supplements an agreement between the Government and the Jewish National Fund, establishing Joint authority over the development of all lands held by the Government and the JNF.
Actually, authority over the Forestry Division of the Ministry of Agriculture was transferred to the JNF last April. The Cabinet decision did not specify any time limit for the new afforestation arrangement and can, therefore, be reviewed and changed at any time by the next Cabinet to be formed after the November 3 elections.
