The largest sum ever obtained by the Jewish National Fund was exceeded this year, during which over $1,400,000 was collected for the fund, it was announced today.
In making this announcement the headquarters of the Fund, however, emphasized that so powerful a community as American Jewry still has failed to raise as much as British Jewry, which comprises only 300,000 persons. The highest sum raised in any one country— $215,000—while creditable to Great Britain and Ireland, is not a figure sufficiently imposing to hold first place among lands contributing to a nation’s fund, the statement says.
