A resolution commending the Jewish Telegraphic Agency for its service to the English-Jewish press in this country was adopted here today at the annual convention of the American Association of English-Jewish Newspapers. Philip Slomovitz, editor and publisher of the Detroit Jewish News, was elected president of the Association for his seventh consecutive term.
The convention also adopted a resolution urging the United Jewish Appeal and the Israel Bond drive "to resolve their present differences in fund raising, in the best interest of the State of Israel." Another resolution called for the defeat of the McCarran-Walter Immigration Bill now pending before the U.S. Senate. The resolution recommended that President Truman be asked to veto the bill if it is approved by the Senate.
