Jacob Glatstein, noted Yiddish poet, was presented here with the 1966 H. Leivick Award for Jewish literature, given annually by the Congress for Jewish Culture, at an impressive gathering at the Statler Hotel attended by more than 600 Jewish writers, actors and persons active in promoting Jewish culture.
The presentation of the $1,000 award coincided with Mr. Glatstein’s 70th birthday and with the publication of a new book of his poetry under the title “A Yid Fun Lublin.” The book was published by the Cyco Farlag, which specializes in the publication of Jewish books.
