Sir Barnett Janner, Labor Party member of Parliament, asked Selwyn Lloyd, the Conservative leader of the House of Commons, this weekend, whether the Government had considered motions signed by more than 100 members requesting debate on the issue of German compensation to victims of Nazism. Sir Barnett, former president of the British Board of Jewish Deputies, addressed Mr. Lloyd, saying:
“Would you give some time to debate this matter? The Federal Government of Germany is susceptible to opinions which come from this country in relation to those who have suffered owing to Nazi persecutions. We are asking particularly in view of the fact that time is running out for many of those who would receive pensions.”
