Japan announced it was suspending aid to the Hamas-led Palestinian Authority. The Japanese Foreign Ministry said Tuesday there would be no more payouts to the Palestinian Authority until its new government, under Hamas, shows its commitment to pursuing peace with Israel. Japan, which has donated $840 million to the Palestinians since 1993, said its aid to non-governmental causes in the West Bank and Gaza Strip would continue.
