A United Nations spokesman denied today reports that the UN’s Middle East representative. Ambassador Gunnar V. Jarring, planned to quit that job in frustration over the Mideast stalemate. “He has no intention at this time to resign.” the spokesman insisted.
Dr. Jarring, who returned here Monday, was scheduled to depart today for Moscow, where he is Sweden’s ambassador. The spokesman said: “He has had extensive talks with the Secretary General and has also met with the parties and others concerned with the Middle East question. As before he will remain in close touch with the Secretary General and with the Middle East situation with a view to continuing his mission.” That mission will be four and a half years old May 23.
