Dr. Gunnar V. Jarring, the special United Nations Middle East envoy, will leave here Aug. 8 for a brief vacation in Sweden, it was reported here today. Dr. Jarring has been pursuing his mandate, under a 1967 Security Council resolution, at UN headquarters for several weeks, after a lengthy series of visits to Jerusalem and the Arab capitals this spring.
In accordance with previously announced plans, Dr. Jarring will return to Nicosia to continue his mission to bring together the Arab states and Israel for negotiations aimed at a peace agreement. When he completes his vacation on Aug. 18, the Swedish envoy will proceed to Nicosia.
