An urgent appeal to American and Canadian synagegues to contribute 500 holy Scrolls of the Law for use in rededicated and rebuilt synagogues in all parts of Europe was made today by Rabbi Leo Jung, chairman, cultural-religious committee of the Joint Distribution Committee, Rabbi Herbert S. Goldstein and Rabbi Jonah B. Wise. Already about 200 Sefer Torabs have been received by the J.D.S. all over the United States and Canada and 55 of them were shipped to Europe in time for the Rosh Hashanah services.
