The Joint Distribution Committee office in France has made contact with local relief bodies to consider measures to meet effectively the increasing demand for relief resulting from the influx of Jewish refugees from occupied France and others, following the intensified anti-Jewish measures and internment of foreign Jews.

Meanwhile, the number of Jewish refugees regularly assisted by the J.D.C. through the Committee for Refugee Assistance alone has reached nearly 16,000, compared with 6,000 six months ago, while 30,000 applications for emigration have been registered by the HIASICA Emigration Association, which is financed by the J.D.C.
