Two members of the Jewish Defense League have been released from prison on $50,000 bail each pending trial on charges of criminal contempt. Jeffry Smilov and Richard Huss were cited for contempt when they refused to testify as prosecution witnesses in the trial last week of Stuart Cohen and Sheldon Davis who were charged with the fatal fire-bombing of impresario Sol Hurok’s office in Jan. 1972.
Their refusal led to the dismissal of the case against Cohen and Davis for lack of evidence. No trial date has been sent for Smilov and Huss.
