Jersey Has Two Jewish Congressmen

For the first time in the history of the State of New Jersey, it will be represented in the United States Congress by two Jews.

Isaac Bacharach, of Atlantic City, veteran member of the House of Representatives, was re-elected to office on the Republican ticket, while Judge Harry Joelson of Paterson, a Democrat, won another seat.

Other Jews who won office are: Speaker Joseph Greenberg of Hoboken, Democrat, re-elected to the Assembly of the State Legislature. Samuel Pessin of Jersey City, Democrat, Herman Blank of Newark, Republican, Elmer E. Brown of Carteret, Democrat, also won Assembly seats.

Philip Lindeman, Republican, president of Temple Bnai Jeshurun of Newark was re-elected to the Board of Chosen Freeholders for the third consecutive term.
