The promise of the Jerusalem Electric Company, a non-Jewish company, to employ Jewish labor in its future works, is considered insufficient by Kehillah leaders, following a protest they made that Jewish labor had not been utilized in the present undertaking of electrifying the city of Jerusalem. Upon investigation it was learned that the company will not start new works for several months and that the future undertakings will be small, while the chief works, in which Jews are not employed, are now under way.
The insistence of the Kehillah leaders that Jewish labor be employed immediately has been without effect. A protest campaign is now being planned. The Hebrew Teachers Association adopted a resolution to boycott electricity from the corporation if Jewish labor is not employed.
