Begging in the streets of the Holy City was prohibited in accordance with a proposal by the Palestine Government. It is still uncertain whether it will affect the beggars at the Western Wall of the Temple, commonly known as the Wailing Wall. The Kehillah of Jerusalem was opposed to the application of the ordinance to the beggars at the Wall.
