Henry Kaufman of this city has been nominated by the Democratic party as its candidate for the state assembly. The Democratic nomination is virtually equivalent to election. The election of Jews to public office in Arkansas in not a frequent occurrence.
Mr. Kaufman is a member of the board of trustees of the United Hebrew Congregation and a past president of the local B’nai B’rith lodge. Some years ago he was a member of the legislature.
