Eighty-two Jews were murdered and 369 wounded in 1,996 Arab attacks between April and October, 1936, according to figures by the political department of the Jewish Agency for Palestine. Property damage included 200,000 trees destroyed and 17,000 dunams of fields under grain razed by fire.
Besides the attacks on Jews, the figures listed 795 Arab attacks on police, the military and Government representatives, 380 raids on railways, buses and other means of transport and 305 assaults by Arabs on other Arabs.
Arabs used 1,369 bombs, mines and infernal machines during the period of violence, the statistics said, and 263 bombs were confiscated by the police. The authorities arrested 3,111 Arabs for taking part in the disturbances, in addition to Arab leaders detained in concentration camps.
The 82 Jews killed included 46 murdered on the spot and 36 who died later of wounds. Eight of the dead were women. Nine other Jews died for other reasons connected with the disorders.
The 369 Jews injured included 42 women. Of the total, 110 were seriously injured and 36 of these later died of their wounds. Another 172 were able to return home after receiving first-aid and 233 were detained in various hospitals.
Thirty-six of the murdered and 202 of the wounded were attacked en route to or from their places of work. Eight were killed and 30 wounded in defence against attacks; 11 were killed and 24 wounded by Arabs who attacked their homes; 17 were killed and 123 wounded on their way home; 26 were wounded in attacks on the railway.
Among the killed were two young girls and three boys under ten years of age, and four boys and three girls between the ages of ten and twenty.
