The Jewish Agency budget for the coming year will be about 103,000,000 Israeli pounds, Dr. G. Josephthal, treasurer, reported today to the plenary session of the Agency. The major part of this sum must be allocated for strengthening new colonization work in Israel, he said.
The plenary session today also heard a report on immigration. Z. Shragai, head of the Agency’s immigration department, estimated that 22,000 immigrants will probably enter the country during the coming year.” However, he warned that there might also be “hurried immigration” to Israel from several countries. He said that 5,978 immigrants arrived in Israel during the first nine months of the Jewish year and that 2, 894 left the country during the same period.
