Jewish Agency to Train American Jewish Youths for Leadership in Zionist Movement

The Jewish Agency today announced that it will start next month to select candidates for a year-long youth leadership institute In Israel. The selected candidates will be required to sign a commitment to serve in one of the Zionist youth movements for at least two years following their return to the United States.

The program, designed to train American Jewish youth for positions of leadership in the Zionist movement in the U.S., consists of six months’ study at the Jewish Agency’s leadership institute in Jerusalem followed by five months practical work at an agricultural settlement and one month of summation. Candidates must be unmarried, between the ages of 17 and 23, in possession of a high school diploma and the endorsement of the Zionist youth group to which they belong. They are expected to have a basic knowledge of Jewish and Zionist history as well as the Hebrew language.
