The proposed Jewish amendments to the draft peace treaties, which ask certain specific guarantees of human rights, reparations and other measures, are not believed to have been discussed by the top members of the Soviet delegation. It in therefore premature to predict what their ultimate attitude may be.
One of the Jewish representatives here said that Jewish demands have not engendered any “wild enthusiasm” among the delegations of the various nations represented here, but a number of contacts have been established with delegates who may be willing to support measures which will guarantee fundamental Jewish rights.
The Jewish leaders assembled here have imposed complete silence on themselves concerning specific moves that are being made to enlist support for their suggestions. They point out that the questions involved are so delicate and complicated that any publicity at this point might do considerable harm.
