Large numbers of Jewish cemeteries in Hungary and Czechoslovakia have been desecrated recently, according to reports reaching here. Local police officials are said to be investigating the incidents. The reports say that the apparent reason for the desecrations is that thieves are stealing non-ferrous metals from the graves and vaults. Both countries are said to be suffering from a shortage of these metals.
