Jewish Committee Opposes Use of Public Funds for Religious Schools

The American Jewish Committee today voiced its opposition to the repeal or dilution of the article in the New York State Constitution which bans the use of state funds for religious schools.

A spokesman for the New York chapter, Theodore Ellenoff, said in a statement presented to the Temporary State Commission for the State Constitutional Convention that any such change would be “a tragic mistake.”
