The Jewish community of Borisov refused to permit the burial in the Jewish cemetery of Boris Fried, secretary of the local Communist party.

After some controversy, the community was prevailed upon to permit the burial of the late Fried in the Jewish cemetery. They specified, however, that the grave be dug near the gate, where persons in disgrace are buried.
