Fifty-nine displaced Jews, enroute to Australia from Paris, were detained during the week-end by Iraqi authorities for not having transit visas, when an American Skymaster plane was forced to land at the Basra airport due to lack of fuel.
The Australian Government’s representative in Baghdad has intervened with Iraqi officials for the detainees. The case is still under consideration by the Iraqi Government.
