That the most acute of all the problems in Jewish life is now the economic question, was the admission made by Merezhin, the president of the Yevseksia, the Jewish Section of the Communist Party of Soviet Russia, in his opening address on Friday at the Conference of All-Russian Jewish Sections of the Communist Party.
Merezhin complained bitterly that the Jewish sections have been busy with political parading, and have paid no attention to the most acute and vital problem in Jewish life in Russia. He urged the conference to correct their error.
In announcing his program he repeated the old demands for the continued isolation of the bourgeoisie, the fighting of nationalistic tendencies among the Jewish masses; and urged the inauguration of such measures as would win over the Jewish masses.
