(Jewish Telegraphic Agency)
The brutal murder of a Jewish family in a Bessarabian village is reported here. It was stated that the murder was the result of strong anti-Semitic agitation in that region.
Peasants attacked the house of the sixty-year-old Jewish farmer, Reuben Prokupetz, in the village of Tinesht, near Levole. The group of peasants, including several women, broke into the house of Prokupetz and attacked his seventeen-year-old daughter, cutting her about the head and throat. Prokupetz and his wife, who came to the rescue of their daughter, were killed and decapitated. The daughter, who survives, was taken to the hospital.
Sonia Opesca, one of the peasant girls, and two other peasants were arrested by the authorities.
