The 20th annual General Assembly of the Council of Jewish Federations and Welfare Funds will open in Chicago on November 30, it was announced here today by Julian Freeman, president of the Council. The Assembly, annual business meeting of the organized Jewish communities, acts as the governing body of the C.J.F.W.F. and determines policies and programs of the organizations.

Official delegates, designated by C.J.F.W.F. member agencies, will deal with the problems of greatest concern” to the organized Jewish communities of the United States and Canada in 1952, Mr. Freeman declared. They will formulate plans to meet American Jewry’s total 1952 responsibilities in Israel, overseas, nationally and locally.

The C.J.F.W.F. is the national association of community organizations serving 300 cities as their instrument in dealing with national problems and in providing central services in budgeting, social planning, campaigning, community organization and community interpretation. Member agencies of the Council annually raise more than 90 percent of all central funds used for Jewish welfare purposes overseas and at home.
