Jewish business firms were today ordered to contribute to the Nazi Winter relief campaign despite the fact they are excluded from enjoying its benefits.

An official order seen by a Jewish Telegraphic Agency correspondent states that while Jews as individuals are free to contribute to Jewish relief funds, this is not the case with firms controlled by Jews “since they enjoy the benefit of being patronized by Aryans.”

The order is expected to affect seriously the special Jewish drive for Winter relief, which has until now been accorded a sympathetic reception by individual Jews as well as among Jewish firms.

Meanwhile, a quota of 1,000,000 marks was set at the Berlin headquarters of the Jewish relief drive. Jewish leaders expect, judging from contributions hitherto received, that the goal will be reached if no unexpected obstacles are placed in the way of the campaign.

Emulating tactics employed in the general relief campaign, relief headquarters declared this Sunday a one-dish-day with the expectation that money saved on meals would be donated to the relief fund.
