Jewish organizations throughout Canada have been requested to cancel all festive occasions for the next week in memory of Dr. Chaim Weizmann, first President of Israel. The closing session of the Mizrachi organization convention yesterday was converted into a memorial meeting for Dr. Weizmann.

Following a meeting of the United Zionist Council of Canada, at which the late President was eulogized, Edward E. Gelber, president, sent a cable to Acting President of Israel Joseph Sprinzak expressing the deep sorrow of Canadian Jewry at the death of Dr. Weizmann. Recalling Dr. Weizmann’s association with Canadian Jewry over the past 35 years, Mr, Gelber stated that ” consideration of Dr. Weizmann’s achievements will bring a renewed sense of devotion to the great ideal which animated him so that Israel will become an everlasting monument to his vision.”
