A $50, 000 contribution has been made to Mt. Sinai Hospital here by Lewis E. Phillips, Eau Claire, Wisconsin industrialist, to establish the L.E. Phillips Psycho-Biological Research Fund in the Jay Phillips Research Laboratory.

Dr. Ralph Rossen, of Minneapolis, Minnesota’s first mental health commissioner, will be director of the project. He is resigning the superintendency of the Hastings State Hospital to assume the research post, the aim of which, according to the donor, will be to “bring about better understanding of the causes of mental illnesses.”
