A total of $250,000 was contributed today at the opening of a national $1,000,000 expansion fund campaign for the Jewish Institute of Religion in New York City headed by Dr. Stephen S. Wise.
Declaring that “the forces of fascism have survived, diminished in numbers, but more intense in their desperation,” Dr. Wise told a gathering at the Hotel Pierre, where the campaign was launched that “world Jewry looks to American Jewry for cultural and religious inspiration, guidance and leadership no less than for bread.”
