Sami Cohen, a prominent journalist here, has been elected a member of the Istanbul Municipal Assembly. A member of the Republican People’s Party of Premier Ismet Inonu, Mr. Cohen, 34, was the only Jew to have won a seat in the recent local elections. While all the main political parties presented at least one Jewish candidate, Mr. Cohen was the only one elected.
