The dearth of Jewish labor has compelled the Hadar Hacarmel Suburban Committee to inform the city of Haifa that it cannot undertake the construction of three roads for which expenditures had been approved. The municipality has accordingly undertaken the work itself with Arab labor. The committee has also had to refuse to undertake the building of a fourth arterial thoroughfare.
Roads construction valued at £12,000 had to be deferred owing to the labor shortage. Drainage work begun in several parts of the Jewish suburb of Hadar Hacarmel nine months ago has not yet been completed owing to the scarcity.
