Jewish leaders in South Africa said they feel “reassured” following a meeting last week with their country’s government about what they see as its pro- Palestinian bias in the current Middle East conflict. After the meeting, a joint statement was issued, reiterating both sides’ commitment to the peace process and appealing to South Africa’s Muslim and Jewish communities to not to let the Middle East violence “lead to disturbances of the public peace” in South Africa.
