Jewish officials criticized the December issue of the American Bar Association’s magazine, whose cover asserts that international law is on the side of Palestinian refugees who wish to return to villages in Israel. A protest letter to the magazine and ABA officials from officials of the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago, signed by more than 300 Chicago-area attorneys, says the issue’s lead article reflects the refugees’ perspective on return, which is “in effect a call for the elimination of Israel as a democratic Jewish state.”
