Rebecca Melhado, 14-year-old Jewish war orphan who was three times spirited away from the Dutch authorities and hidden in a convent, was placed today with a non-Jewish family considered to be “religiously neutral.”

The action was taken by the Amsterdam Board of Guardians which had received numerous protests from Holland and abroad over its earlier decision to place the girl with a Catholic family.
