The press here reported today that there is considerable anxiety existing among the Jewish communities in Algeria, following the assassination there of Alexis Goldenberg, chief superintendent of police and highest ranking Jew in the French police in Algiera.

Mr. Goldenberg, 49, held two university degrees, in science and in law, and was a linguist speaking seven languages. His widow flew to Algeria after his murder, and he was buried yesterday in a Jewish cemetery.

According to the press here, the Algerian Jews feel they are caught between the two, principal contending forces in Algeria–the Moslem, terrorist, FLN, and the French secret underground, the OAS.
